Lee Jin Wook And Lee Ha Na Reveal Key Differences Between ‘Voice’ Season 1 And Season 2

Last updated on December 5, 2018

If you love CSI-like crime thrillers or gory horror shows, you might want to give “Voice 2” a try. Fans loved Jang Hyuk’s “Voice” so much so that OCN is bringing the second installment of the series, which is rare for K-dramas. Instead of Jang Hyuk, a new detective Lee Jin Wook will lead the show along with the gifted voice profiler (Lee Ha Na) from season 1. Take a look at the new characters and plot line for “Voice” season 2!

Jang Hyuk vs. Lee Jin Wook

In “Voice” season 2, Moo Jin Hyuk (Jang Hyuk) of season 1 takes a leave of absence to spend more time with his son. On one hand, he’s more of an emotionally-driven detective who’d lost his wife to a serial killer (Kim Jae Wook). On the other hand, detective Do Kang Woo (Lee Jin Wook) in season 2 is cold, methodical, and withdrawn. In the past, he was falsely accused of leaving behind his colleague for his own life. We’re also curious of how he gained the supernatural power of seeing the crime scenes through the villain’s eyes. Comparing his character to Jang Hyuk’s, Lee Jin Wook said, “Do Kang Woo and Moo Jin Hyuk are both persistent. They’re determined to catch a criminal target. But Do Kang Woo is cold, sulky, and reticent. That’s how he’s different from Do Kang Woo.”

Lee Ha Na the voice profiler vs. team leader

In season 1, voice profiler Kang Kwon Joo (Lee Ha Na), driven to catch her father’s murderer, worked closely with Jin Hyuk (Jang Hyuk). In season 2, she steps into a leadership role and takes charge of the golden time team in the second season. “She had the goal to find her father’s murderer in season 1. She found him and closed the case. So in “Voice 2,” Kwon Joo feels a bit relieved,” the actress explained. “But she’s still desperate to save lives. If her motivations were more personal in season 1, she’s more in touch with the world now.”

In “Voice” season 2, expect to see her work on the crime scenes. She’ll be tracking and collecting sounds on site. In terms of her relationship with Do Kang Woo (Lee Jin Wook), she’ll move the golden time team forward as a leader and bring along Do Kang Woo, who works better independently.

Supporting characters also return on ‘Voice 2’

Do you remember the polylinguist Park Eun Soo (Son Eun Seo) from the Hongchang-dong kidnapping case (Voice season 1, ep 4-6)? Expect to see more of her as she joins the golden time team as a language specialist. She even has a secret girl crush on her mentor Kang Kwon Joo.

Jin Seo Yool (Kim Woo Seok) is the latest addition and the youngest member of the team. As a hacker, he tracks the digital footprint of the criminals.

“Voice” season 2 premiere airs on Aug. 11, 2018.
