13 Korean Celebrities Who’ve Been in an International Relationship

Every couple faces a challenge. Cultural diversity might have been a challenge for these couples, yet more than half of them are still dating or married. Here are 13 international–and sometimes interracial–Asian celebrity couples.

1. Beenzino and Stefanie Michova

Korean rapper Beenzino and German model Stefanie Michova, who’ve starred on G-Dragon and Taeyang‘s m/v “Good Boy” together, confirmed dating in April 2015.

Beenzino learned to speak English when he lived in New Zealand. On communicating with Stefanie, he explained, “We speak in English, but try to learn each other’s language and mix them in conversations.”

The couple is still dating. In October 2017, Stefanie surprise-visited Beenzino in the army. In April 2018, the couple went on a date in Apgujeong.

2. Song Seung Hun and Liu Yifei

Korean actor Song Seung Hun and Chinese actress Liu Yifei, who’ll play Mulan in the upcoming Disney film, met on set of “The Third Way of Love.” They confirmed dating in August 2015 and breakup in January 2018. While they dated, the actor explained that they converse in English and don’t feel any language barrier.

3. G-Dragon and Kiko Mizuhara

BIGBANG‘s G-Dragon and Kiko Mizuhara, Japanese American model and actress, dated for five years and reportedly broke up in August 2015. Throughout their relationship, either has never publicly acknowledged the relationship.

4. Choo Sung Hoon and Yano Shiho

Choo Sung Hoon, Korean-Japanese MMA fighter, Japanese model Yano Shiho and their daughter Choo Sarang have starred in the early years of the reality show “The Return of Superman.” The family now lives in Hawaii but travels often to Tokyo and Seoul.

5. Bae Doona and Jim Sturgess

Korean actress Bae Doona and British actor Jim Sturgess dated shortly after starring on “Cloud Atlas” (2012) together. They confirmed breakup in March 2015.

6. Tang Wei and Kim Tae Yong

Chinese actress Tang Wei and Korean filmmaker Kim Tae Yong married on July, 2014.

Kim Tae Yong directed the film “Late Autumn” (2011) starring Hyun Bin and Tang Wei, and the film set is where the couple first met. In 2014, the couple announced their marriage and tied the knot in the Swedish director Ingmar Bergman’s house on the tiny island of Faro, Sweden, in July 2014. In 2016, they welcomed a baby daughter.

7. Choo Ja Hyun and Yoo Ho Kwang

Korean actress Choo Ja Hyun has been working in China for many years. The couple shared they’re dating in 2015, tied the knot in 2017 and welcomed a baby boy in 2018.

8. Chae Rim and Jiame Gao (Gao Xingqi)

Korean actress Chae Rim and Chinese actor Jiame Gao have been happily dating since April 2014, and they tied the knot in October 2014. They welcomed a baby boy in 2017.

9. Jung Joon Ha and Nina Yagi

Comedian Jung Joon Ha of “Infinity Challengemarried Japanese flight attendant Nina Yagi in 2012 after four years of dating. Their baby boy Ro Ha was born in March 2013.

10. Kim Jung Min and Rumiko Tani

Singer Kim Kyung Min and Japanese singer Rumiko Tani married in 2006, and have three adorable children. The family has starred in the SBS reality show “Oh My Baby.”

11. H.O.T. Jang Woo Hyuk and Yuko Fueki (Yoo Min)

Jang Woo Hyuk, member of the first generation K-pop group H.O.T., and Japanese actress Yuko Fueki (Yoo Min) have been dating since 2006, Dispatch reported in 2014. In 2016, Yoo Min mentioned on TV someone she used to date, suggesting that they’ve broken up.

12. BMK and Maxi Larry

Singer BMK (Big Mama King) married Maxey Larry Derrelle, former American pilot stationed in Korea, in 2011 after four years of dating. BMK said in a 2012 interview, “My husband gave everything up, including his job, to come to Korea and live with me.”

13. Im Sang A and Jamie Propp

K-pop star turned handbag designer Sang A Im-Propp married American music producer Jamie Propp in New York City. After 10 years of marriage, the couple divorced in 2014.

After Sang A left the K-pop scenes in the 1990s, she studied at Parsons and launched an eponymous brand in 2006. The Sang A bags have captured hearts of many including Ashlee Simpson and Devon Aoki.
