We’re anxiously awaiting the premiere of “Familiar Wife (Wife I Know)” starring Ji Sung and Han Ji Min tonight! Watch the press conference to find out why Ji Sung wanted to become a baseball player had he not started acting, and behind-the-scenes stories to Han Ji Min’s on-screen outfits! Plus, scroll down to reveal three things to consider as you watch “Familiar Wife.”
1. Ji Sung fights life’s what ifs so you don’t have to
Cha Joo Hyuk (Ji Sung) fell in love with Seo Woo Jin (Han Ji Min) in college and has been married to her for 5 years. Throughout their married life, especially after welcoming a baby, romance gives way to reality, and he starts to fantasize his biggest what if: What if I married my first love instead?
2. ‘Familiar Wife’ is an office comedy
We’ve never seen a K-drama couple as realistic as Ji Sung and Han Ji Min in “Familiar Wife.” This married couple bickers, argues, and fights. They’d been fated to love. But when reality seeps in, challenges are unavoidable.
This romantic comedy doubles as an office comedy about Ji Sung’s workplace and coworkers (including Jang Seung Jo). Screenwriter Yang Hee Seung wanted to tell a real office comedy by making Ji Sung work at KCU bank, where the employees are customer-facing tellers by day and office workers by night.
3. Ji Sung and Han Ji Min put their heart into ‘Familiar Wife’
Ji Sung loved that “Familiar Wife” told a story of living in the moment. He understands juggling work and parenting is hard, which is why Ji Sung wanted to become a part of “Familiar Wife” to support the working parents. Han Ji Min plays a working mother who ends up doing most of parenting because her husband’s work finishes late at night. She wore her own T-shirts and pajamas on heavy rotation before the camera to make her character appear as realistic as possible. In reality, they both love kids and enjoyed filming with them a lot.
High hopes for Ji Sung and Han Ji Min in ‘Familiar Wife’
We adored Ji Sung on “Entertainer,” and loved him on “Kill Me, Heal Me.” We’re so happy he returned for another romantic comedy with a great team. PD Lee Sang Yup has directed “Shopping King Louis,” which was dubbed as a “fairy tale for adults.” Screenwriter Yang Hee Seung has penned adorable romantic comedies like “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo” and “Oh My Ghost.”
The Ji Sung family seems to be doing well. Last summer, Ji Sung shared beautiful shots of wife Lee Bo Young and daughter Ji Yoo in Thailand.
As for Han Ji Min, she’s staging a K-drama comeback in three years with “Familiar Wife.” She fell in love with the drama’s “fantasy-like realism that everyone can empathize with.” She elaborated, “Fate happens in an instant. In this drama, we discuss fate starting from the nostalgic ‘what if,’ which was interesting … Naturally, people forget some first encounters because life happens or because we simply lose touch. I hope this drama will remind you of some of those first encounters you’ve had.” Last month, Han Ji Min had a French kiss-themed photoshoot with Vogue Korea and Van Cleef & Arpels in Paris.
