If you live in greater Los Angeles or Tri-State area, you’r in for a treat. “The Princess and The Matchmaker,” (CJ Entertainment) starring Lee Seung Gi and Shim Eun Kyung, premiered today at CGV cinemas in Los Angeles and Buena Park, California, and Edgewater multiplex cinemas in Edgewater, New Jersey.
“The Princess and The Matchmaker” originally premiered in South Korea on Feb. 28, and has been doing well. Currently it’s ranked second after “Little Forest” on Naver Movies.
The newest historical romantic comedy from South Korea
In “The Princess and The Matchmaker,” the Josun princess Song Hwa (Shim Eun Kyung of “Miss Granny”) must find her husband quick to end the country’s prolonged famine. Kingdom’s best prophet Seo Do Yoon (Lee Seung Gi) enters the film to help the princess with bad luck select her partner out of four candidates. Will he find the perfect match to change her fortune? Or will she take matters into her own hands in choosing her marriage material?
“The Princess and The Matchmaker” is Hong Chang Pyo’s directorial debut and work of the “Train to Busan” team. It is also the second film in the divination series, following “The Face Reader” (2013). The third in line is “Grave Site” starring Jo Seung Woo and Ji Sung, which will premiere later this year.
The film also stars Kang Min Hyuk, Kim Sang Kyung, Yeon Woo Jin, Choi Woo Shik and Jo Bok Lae.
